Doughp Las Vegas Grand Opening
February 25th, 2019
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Strip Gets Raw with New Cookie Dough Dessert Bar in Miracle Mile Shops
Doughp, a millennial-brand on a mission, brings their nostalgic dessert bar to Vegas and caters to the sweetest of addictions beginning March 16.
LAS VEGAS – Feb. 25, 2019 – Las Vegas spoonlickers - UNITE! Doughp (pronounced ‘dope’) is coming in fresh from the Bay Area, making a new home at Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. The second outpost, and first Vegas location, caters to the sweetest addiction of all – raw edible cookie dough in a fun, booze-free bar environment. Cookie dough lovers will dive spoon (or face) first into endless cookie dough flavor combinations that can all be enjoyed raw or taken home to bake. Doughp is set to have a ridiculously fun grand opening on Saturday, March 16 beginning at noon – offering sweet Doughp gift bags to the first 50 people in line, additional raffles and an appearance by #Doughp4Hope collab partners, The Chippendales, direct from their home at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. “I started my journey into sobriety in 2015 and without that decision, undoubtedly, Doughp would not exist today,” said Doughp founder and fearless leader, Kelsey Witherow. “I rediscovered my passions and set off to make people smile with this nostalgic dessert. I’m here to show others struggling from addiction that the grass is WAY greener on the other side and to elevate the conversation around addiction and mental health. We’re all going through something -- let’s talk about it.”
The Doughp storefronts give Witherow the opportunity to create a booze-free ‘bar’ environment and let people have a kick-ass time, take part in some self-care with a scoop of cookie dough, and make new friends – no liquid courage necessary! “With that mission in mind, it was a no-brainer that I needed to bring Doughp to the epicenter of Sin City, The Las Vegas Strip. We’re ready to bring people together and remind everyone it’s ok to not be ok all the time,” she continues.
The cookie dough bar is 900 square feet of straight-up memory lane; filled with the glow of the neon lights, bumping 90’s jams, foosball table, high school bleachers, and more. Dropping by after-hours? Doughp has your back with their 24/7 vending machine called the “Doughp Dealer” - instead of dealing cards, get dealt a jar of edible cookie dough. Guests can also watch real-time as their dough is made from scratch; taking drool-worthy videos through the glass as 50 pounds of cookie dough comes together. Doughp will boast a fun and customizable “Dough-It-Yourself” Bar where guests can select from one of three sizes: Self Control (1 Scoop), Legit (2 Scoops), or Fully Commit (3 Scoops) and customize their cookie dough with whatever “mix” fits their mood – including chocolate chips, sprinkles, childhood cereals, peanut butter, or even chocolate sauce from a three-tier chocolate fountain. Doughp also offers options for the indecisive spoonlickers including popular “Doughp Remixes” like This S’more is Hella Lit (cookie dough with graham cracker pieces, marshmallows, chocolate chips and a chocolate drizzle), Cinnamood (snickerdoodle cookie dough with white chocolate chips), Cookie Monsta (blue cookie dough with Oreo) and a special Vegas flavor, Vegas Blackout (black chocolate chip cookie dough with gold sprinkles, inspired by a certain local hockey team).
Enjoy the sweetness of giving back by choosing the #Doughp4Hope Remix. For the cookie dough bar’s first collaboration, they have partnered with Las Vegas’ Chippendales. No strangers to the charitable scene in Las Vegas, the Chippendales are excited for Doughp to feature the Chipp-tastic (a “chipp”-filled cookie dough with chocolate chips, peanut butter chips and potato chips). Because life can be both salty and sweet, 100 percent of proceeds from this flavor will be donated to the Nevada Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The #Doughp4Hope campaign raises awareness to mental health issues and substance abuse encouraging guests to enjoy life’s sweetest moments and practice sweet acts of self-love. The store will also allow guests to sign their #Doughp4Hope pledge, reminding us that life is raw and the struggle is real – for all of us. The menu will highlight a dedicated flavor every six months and 100-percent of the proceeds is donated back to a local mental health nonprofit.
Offering a “Happy Hour You’ll Actually Remember” menu, Doughp’s liquor-free bar will mix up creative mocktails and offer rounds of milk “shots” to accompany your cookie dough. Guests can also enjoy cookie dough milkshakes and coffee drinks from a full espresso bar featuring coffee by Big House Beans, a coffee roaster providing opportunity for those with barriers to employment; including customizable latte art
printed with the RippleMaker. Doughp will let sweet-aholics quench their thirst and continue proving you don’t need booze to have a good time.
Doughp Las Vegas will be open daily from 10 a.m. – midnight. Doughp is located near PBR American Bar & Grill in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino at 3663 S. Las Vegas Blvd. For more information, visit www.eatdoughp.com.
Serving up nostalgia with every scoop and curating dope moments of self-love, Doughp – the legit cookie dough company, burst onto the dessert scene in 2017 in San Francisco. After a journey in self-discovery and sobriety, founder Kelsey Witherow renewed her love for baking and inadvertently created an amazing edible cookie dough recipe from scratch that can be enjoyed either raw or heated. Doughp continues to take the world by storm with its upcoming flagship location on the famed Las Vegas Strip, popular San Francisco storefront and nationwide shipping through www.goldbelly.com. Not only is Doughp sweet on the outside, but is sweet on the inside with its long- standing mission to bring attention and awareness to mental health and substance abuse issues with raw truth – with Doughp4Hope, a national campaign giving back to the community by prioritizing mental health for employees and guest alike. Today we're bringing you a blog post from the SF LGBT Center regarding workplace discrimination. Finding a job can be stressful for everyone, taking a big toll on our mental health. But for LGBT applicants, finding a job can be even harder.
BLOG ORIGINALLY POSTED BY SF LGBT CENTER. FIND THE ORIGINAL BLOG POST HERE.
Between building resumes, filling out applications, and sweating through interviews, the frustration of job hunting isn’t exclusively a queer experience— it can be stressful for almost anyone! However, as much as society has moved towards acceptance and equality in recent years, the curve is still a little steeper for even the most qualified LGBTQ folks.
A 2014 study from the Equal Rights Center and Freedom to Work tested this theory by submitting pairs of similar (fictional) resumes to eight federal contractors throughout the U.S., with the main difference between these two resumes being that one mentioned involvement in LGBT organizations, while the other did not. The results of this investigation were concerning, suggesting that LGBT applicants were 23% less likely to receive a call-back than their non-LGBT counterpart, despite the LGBT applicant being better qualified.
In addition, Fortune magazine reported in 2017 that “in a majority of states, being fired due to sexual orientation or gender orientation is a reality,” as there is no nationwide law protecting LGBTQ people from employment discrimination.
These kinds of discrimination range from subtle to blatant, and may show up in a variety of different ways, as captured concisely in Out & Equal’s 2017 Workplace Equality Fact Sheet. For example:
For most, this supportive workplace climate is the ideal to aspire to, but realistically (and coming from a harm reduction model), sometimes the main priority is to find a source of income and stay safe. Either way, how’s an ambitious queer person supposed to navigate this less-than-perfect situation?
The Transgender Job Bank, an online aggregator for LGBT-friendly job postings, has a few tips:
1. Check local and state laws on employment discrimination, to see if you’re at risk for being targeted;
2. Remain subtle about your gender/sexual minority status—there’s no need to disclose it in an interview, and it’s illegal for an interviewer to ask about it; and
3. Prep some questions about company culture, to gauge whether it’s an accepting environment that you’ll feel safe in.
This process gets further complicated for those who identify as transgender, non binary, or gender-nonconforming and find themselves faced with the restrictive ideas of professional attire. In the Fortune article “What It’s Like To Be Young, Gender-Neutral, and in the Job Market,” genderqueer college student Sarah Scott described their experience in the workplace: “It was really discouraging…[interviewers] were uncomfortable that I was in the building, let alone comfortable with the idea that they might have to work with me.”
They also experienced bathroom discrimination, being told to leave the women’s restroom and use the men’s facilities instead.
“It’s almost a dead giveaway that you might as well not waste your time in the interview if they have to redirect you toward the men’s bathroom and you to have to turn around and tell them…I know which bathroom I’m supposed to be using, but thanks for your concern,” they said.
Their method of coping with this situation was to leave the job environment that made them uncomfortable and seek new employment in a “more progressive-minded area.” However, others may not have this luxury—what to do when your very gender presentation might bring up judgment and discrimination? As the Transgender Job Bank says, “For some, concealing a part of their identity for the workplace is irrelevant; for others, this might as well be a death sentence.”
The Rochester Institute of Technology published an FAQ for Trans* Job Seekers that offers a few different options based on your comfort level with sharing your gender identity:
“Dress professionally for the gender you would like to be seen as; this will reduce pronoun confusion on the part of your interviewer. Many select professional but gender-neutral clothing choices…this is a highly individualized decision. You may want to conduct a mock interview to help prepare yourself, whether you wish to out yourself in the application process or not.”
A mock interview is a great way to practice how to present one’s LGBTQ identity in a professional context—how much to disclose, what questions to ask to test the climate of tolerance, ways to convey one’s identity professionally. While daunting at first, most or all of these skills can be hammered out with practice. This is why The Center’s LGBT Employment ServicesProgram and Trans Employment Program provide one-on-one interview practice, professional mentoring, skills workshops, and resume review services to help support our clients through this arduous process and find them safe and fulfilling work environments.
Most of you know that Doughp is based in San Francisco, California. Home of Golden Gate Bridge, old cable cars, Pier 39 (our home!), and the Full House houses. But San Francisco has SO much more to explore that’s well off the beaten tourist track.
Lucky for you, many of Doughp’s employees have been living in the Bay Area for years. Although we could never fully explore our own city, we do know a few places that you’re sure to love too. And we want to share them with you! 98% of Doughp’s customers are tourists who find us on Pier 39. I decided to take a tourist day in my own city to nail down the best sites to see, along with the lesser-known local spots that are only a few blocks away. Who knows, you may even stumble across some Doughp along the way! ;)
If you head to any of these locations, be sure to snap a pic and tag us on Instagram @eatdoughp! We love seeing what our customers are up to. Are you a local who knows a cool spot that should be added to the list? Email us at email@example.com.

Flash back to Thanksgiving this year -- a friend of mine threw a truly AMERICAN party and brought out the deep fryer; and each guest was asked to bring something they'd like to deep fry! Naturally, I brought some Doughp. These deep-fried-cookie-dough balls were seriously life-changing and I got to thinking...what else would be next-level with some cookie dough added? Well, hoping you'll help me answer that and enter to win our "Show Us How You Dough It" contest!
Today, Doughp officially opened a recipe contest where you can “Show Us How You Dough It.” We want you to use some Doughp, come up with a crazy recipe, and share your creation with us online!

When I started Doughp in April of 2017, I just wanted a change. After a decade with the corporate world, I was looking for the rush of creating something new; the excitement of others enjoying what you made, the creativity in building a brand people can relate to. Doughp has given me SO much more than that.
Since opening, we’ve sold more than 250,000 scoops of cookie dough and donated thousands of dollars to different causes. The Bread Project, our non-profit kitchen, has made us over 50,000 pounds of cookie dough. That’s enough dough to fill 8,000 hot tubs... (oh-my-god..srsly?!) Opening our store on PIER 39 created countless memories for people from all over the world who get the chance to dig into some Doughp.
We’re on a mission to spread raw dough and real conversation. I’ve personally battled with alcoholism & anxiety first hand - these issues are not unique to me - but in a world full of filtered perfection, it can make you feel pretty damn alone. Doughp makes cookie dough, but we have something to say and together we can make this world a little sweeter. We’re more committed than ever to our Doughp4Hope mission to reduce the stigmas around mental health and addiction. Learn more here.
Today we are taking the next big leap. Our storefronts allow us to create these spaces where people can come together, be real & engage with each other....and listen to some 90’s throwbacks.✌🏼So to expand that vision, we are announcing our new 24/7 dessert “bar” coming to the LAS VEGAS STRIP Spring ‘19! That’s right..the headlines can read “Sober Founder Opens (Dessert) Bar in Vegas.” We’ll be making a safe haven in Vegas - a chill dessert & coffee bar to hang out in, booze-free. We hope you’ll come party with us! ✨ Stay tuned for more... (Sneak peek a few store drawings below!)
With our big step into Sin City, it’s time we open up our website & social handles beyond DoughpSF. Beginning today you can now hit us up on all social accounts @eatdoughp and find us online at: www.eatdoughp.com
I couldn’t be more stoked for this next step in the Doughp journey and, as always, sending out some big virtual *hugs* to say thanks. Thanks for coming along with me!

Today’s pretty rad… because today I get to celebrate 3 years of sobriety! September 14th in 2015, I was waking up in Barcelona - after a near 12-hour binge drinking session - experiencing some serious confusion, a killer hangover, and a sinking feeling in my stomach that I’d done it again. Yet again I’d be apologizing for actions I vaguely remembered. Yet again I’d spend the morning searching for my belongings, which I’d lost around the town the night before. Yet again I’d be hurting the people closest to me; letting them down time & again for a problem that took me a bit longer to recognize. Well, that morning it ended. I pulled myself together and went to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting and haven’t had a sip of alcohol since. This kick-a$$ decision changed the entire direction of my life.
I’ve never been more comfortable in my own skin. I feel ALL of the feelings and deal with my shit in healthy ways. There’s no crutch, there’s no more escape. I’m just here. Living. Feeling. Doing. Creating. Loving. Getting alcohol out of my way was the most liberating decision of my life. It wasn’t “easy” by any account, but so worth it. My energy level went through the roof, I rediscovered my passions - all of which led me to quit my safe corporate job and open up DOUGHP early last year.
Our generation has normalized alcoholism. Nearly one-third of adults in the U.S. engage in problem drinking at some point in their lives. Often passed off as “party years” or “just having fun” - the drinking culture makes it difficult to accept you have a problem without losing your job, getting a DUI, or some other severe consequences. I always believed I could control my drinking; I’d set out for a night of drinking just absolutely SURE that this time would be different. But it never was. I faced my own set of consequences and made the decision to not push my luck any further. I cannot handle alcohol ...and that’s something our society makes pretty damn hard to accept.
At the root of my troubles with alcohol was my mental health. I was excelling in almost everything and still convinced I wasn’t good enough. Nearly 1 in 2 Americans will develop a mental health disorder in their lifetime — but we’re all so sketched out to talk about it. To answer honestly when someone asks “How are you?”. These days, we’re more connected than ever - but we all know what that’s done to our daily life. We’re moving around this world with our headphones in, our face in our phone screen, and a disdain for anyone who even makes eye contact for too long. What role can DOUGHP play in helping us all just connect a little bit more - remind you to be there for a friend when they need you, and to reach out when you’re the one in need? What if we can come together more often?
I started DOUGHP to bring cookie dough out of the kitchen - this sweet, nostalgic treat that can help us escape for a moment to a simpler time. Our storefronts created an alternate space to gather with friends outside of the ubiquitous bar scene - but still with super chill music. :) We’re on a mission to reduce the social stigmas around mental health & addiction and provide resources & support where we can — here are the few of the ways we’re out to inspire change:
The Struggle is real.
It's real for you, for me, and for the 1 in 2 of us who will develop a mental health disorder in our lifetime. So why do we fake it through filters? Some days are truly #blessed, but some days we're feeling more like FML.
REALITY CHECK: IT'S OKAY TO NOT BE OKAY
DOUGHP is hustling for a world built on raw truths, not half-baked perfection.
We pledge to keep it raw and keep it real, every day.
I will answer straight up when someone ask "how are you?"
I will give & accept compliments without hesitation.
I will keep an open door for anyone who is struggling.

Kelsey Witherow / FOUNDER + FEARLESS LEADER
Watcha doing? After ditching a 10-year career in tech, I followed my sweet tooth to open DOUGHP. These days I'm focused on growing the business, enabling partnerships, and helping to cultivate some seriously kick-a$$ professionals on my team. I may run the company, but I'm having waaaaay too much fun to call it a "job."
Rep your hometown: Dallas-born but raised just outside the Bay Area in Sacramento, CA! :)
Super Fun Fact: I can rap all of Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby” …and there may or may not be a choreographed dance to accompany that.
Cole Mayer / VP OPERATIONS
Whatcha doing? I handle operations both inside our storefronts (& new kiosk at AT&T Park) & outside with external catering/wholesale orders. Someone's gotta keep this show on the road!
Rep Your Hometown: Boulder, Colorado. It's a beautiful little town nestled up against the Rocky Mountains. I went to CU-Boulder and took the opportunity to move to San Francisco two and a half years ago!
Super Fun Fact: I love camping and being outdoors with friends. There's something special about getting out of the hustle and bustle of life for a few days and fully disconnect (and in turn connecting fully with the people you're in the wild with!). It's an amazing opportunity to reset your psyche.
Chris Ciszewski / BUSINESS DOUGHVELOPMENT
Watcha doing? Taking our wholesale business to a new DOUGHP level :)
Rep your hometown: I'm from Niagara Falls, the American side (you have to say that, cause people will always ask) I helped open and manage one of the first boutique hotels there.
Super fun fact: I'm actually a bit on the shorter side compared to friends; despite being 6"5, my other friends are 6"9 and 6"7. And i's rare if people DON'T ask if we we're athletes when we're out together. We joke that we're ex-hockey players, but truth is... all this tall-ness never really translated to any athletic prowess.
Cahner Olson / MARKETING LEAD & EXEC SIDEKICK
Watcha doing? I lead DOUGHP's marketing and catering coordination! Instagram is my game - I mean who doesn't love taking photos of (and then eating) cookie dough?!
Rep your hometown: I was born in Chicago but grew up in Omaha, Nebraska! I'm a midwestern girl through and through.
Super fun fact: I love to travel and will check off my 30th country by the end of this year!
Caitlin Russell / BRAND GURU
Watcha doing? I’m leading the DOUGHP for Hope road trip! We’re dishing out cookie dough and conversation for mental health at recovery centers, sober houses, and colleges down the West Coast.
Rep your hometown: Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. I grew up hanging at the mall, snacking on froyo, and listening to TLC.
Super fun fact: I quit my ad job at 23 and built artificial reefs in Thailand. I’m a certified advanced nitrox diver and obsessed with nudibranchs.
